So, like fake news? That’s very odd.

The problem was the gas tanks were mounted on the outside of the truck frame. The gas tank had only the sheet metal of the truck bed outer skin as protection. This was a really dumb and dangerous design. GM got the upper hand by suing NBC despite the stupid design.

Not the back of them, but the side of them just behind the B pillar. You're getting the Ford Pinto a decade or so earlier confused with this. Not cool if you're trying to present historical facts. This was a great example of how the mainstream media has always tried to screw us over with lies. Get it right if you want to make a real difference.

They pulled the same stunt with the Suzuki samurai claiming it would roll over at anything over parking lot speeds. None of the stunt drivers could get it to flip on a course set up to make it roll. The producer got infuriated and called the stunt drivers idiots. He then showed them how it’s done. He literally drove the little samurai like a formula one car around a set of tight curves and was successful at proving that idiots shouldn’t drive.

I remember that episode and the retraction a week later. GM proved that the vehicle was going faster than what the show stated also there was another incendiary device placed in the right headlamp to ignite on impact. NBC stepped on their own d*ck on that one...

Got a great pro tip from my local garage friend. Each leaf spring side has anywhere from 5 to 7 plastic silencer discs in between the leaf springs. Take these out by wedging a flat head screw driver or chisel under them and then push them out with a crow bar. Spray brake cleaner on the exposed areas then apply a liberal amount of bearing grease in the same areas. I tried this and man did it do the job. No more squeaking. The Toyota stealership wanted over $300 just to tell me what "might" be wrong. 2017 Tacoma.

Actually, it's best to push the fitting from the right side toward the left, compressing the spring clip.
